Dashcams come in all shapes and sizes these days, and from cheap (€20) at Action to expensive (€800+) with all the trimmings. We won't be so quick to recommend buying a cheap €20 dashcam from Action, although you might be fine with it for a while. However, chances are slim that you will recognise license plates and people on the videos, which is exactly what a dashcam is meant for. In addition, the build quality will not be fantastic and chances are that after a year it will fall off your windscreen and dangle from the cable.

A good dashcam does not always have to be expensive. Many cheap dashcams (under €100) are nowadays equipped with Wifi, GPS and FullHD or even 2K (QuadHD) image quality. Often, the savings with a cheap dashcam lie in App development and other software support. For example, you won't be able to watch remotely via Cloud (as with BlackVue or G-Net) and therefore you won't be able to remotely log in to your camera or receive notifications during parking mode.

In our opinion, the Nanocam M27 is the best cheap dashcam on the market. The Nanocam M27 is sleekly designed and films at sharp QuadHD resolution. Wifi and GPS are built-in, and it can be perfectly used as a parking security system due to its automatic parking mode with motion detection and time lapse mode.

A 32gb Micro SD card is included as standard and a rear camera and hardwire kit (for parking mode) are optional extras. On its own, for under €100 you have a perfect dashcam that is not much inferior to much more expensive models.

2. AZDome M330 (€59.99)

The AZDome M330 is a new dashcam in the lower segment, however, you definitely don't have to compromise on features or quality. This sleek dashcam films in good FullHD resolution and is equipped with Wi-Fi. Despite its compact design, it still has a small 1.0-inch TNT indicator screen, allowing you to see exactly what the dashcam is doing.

The AZDome M330 has a wide viewing angle lens of 170˚ which records a very large area around the car. It supports Micro SD cards up to 128gb, you should always format these in the dashcam before use by pressing and holding the Wifi button for 8 seconds.

3. Vantrue E1 Lite (€99.00)

The Vantrue E1 Lite is perhaps the smallest dashcam on the market, and it's also friendly priced. For less than €100, you have an ideal dashcam with Wifi and GPS and good FullHD image quality.

The Vantrue E1 Lite has a small 1.5-inch LCD screen on which you can view images and control the menu. It is also expandable with a CPL filter and it supports Micro SD cards up to 512gb, which is unique for a dashcam in this price range.

4. UTOUR C2L (€89)

The UTOUR C2L is a relatively new dashcam. This model has no LCD screen and therefore hardly stands out in the car. It films at very sharp QuadHD (2K) resolution and has Wifi and GPS built-in.

UTOUR is distinguished by its comprehensive ADAS system that notifies you, the driver, of dangerous situations on the road.

5. Dashcam Y900 (€39,-)

You probably won't find a cheaper dashcam of reasonable quality for this money anywhere else. The Y900 dashcam is an entry-level dashcam with a large 4.0-inch LCD screen and rear camera.

The image quality is reasonable with FullHD, but don't expect to be able to recognise license plates or people while driving in the dark. The rear camera can also be connected to reversing lights so the dashcam can be used as a parking aid.
