The 6 best budget dash cams under €100

The range of dashcams on offer has increased enormously in recent years. They are available very cheaply, from around €25 at Action to €1,000 including all possible features. Is that €1,000 dashcam necessarily better than the €25 one? Probably, but the difference may be smaller than you might think at first.

We wouldn't recommend an extremely cheap €25 dashcam. It may record, but the image quality is probably not good enough to make license plates or people recognizable. That's exactly what you hopefully bought the dashcam for.

However, we wouldn't recommend a €1,000 dashcam either, unless you're buying it for a specific purpose. Dashcams in this price range usually have special features such as complete 360˚ view or extensive cloud functionality. However, the image quality of such an expensive dashcam is usually not much better than that of a cheaper dashcam costing €200 or less.

So what price range should you be looking at? This depends on your requirements, of course. On average, people spend around €100 to €200 on a dashcam, but there are certainly some interesting cheap options available for less than €100. With a slightly smaller budget, you will have to save on features such as GPS, and the video resolution is usually Full HD or 2K instead of 4K. That does not mean that these 'budget' dashcams are not perfectly suitable for most of your daily drives. Another advantage is that these cameras are often slightly smaller than more expensive dashcams, making them a perfect fit for most cars.

Many well-known dashcam brands have one or more cheaper models in their range. In this list, we tell you what we currently consider to be the 6 best cheap budget dashcams under €100. The list is continuously updated and is therefore up to date.

1. Botslab HK30 Pro

In our opinion, the Botslab HK30 Pro is the best budget dashcam currently available. This inexpensive dashcam films with above-average 2K resolution. People and license plates are therefore clearly visible during the day and in the dark. It is also equipped with Wifi so you can connect to the camera with your phone when you are nearby. This is also necessary to change settings and adjust the dashcam, as it does not have an LCD screen and is therefore very compact.

When connected to the optional hardwire kit, the HK30 Pro can also be used to secure your car while parked. For this purpose, the dashcam is equipped with a special parking mode function. It supports Micro SD cards up to 128GB, which can store around 20 hours of 2K videos.

2. Wolfbox i03

This super small and sleekly designed Wolfbox i03 is an inexpensive but very powerful dashcam. It is super compact and therefore fits perfectly behind any rearview mirror. The QuadHD 2.5K videos can compete with many expensive cameras, and you don't have to compromise on features either. You can easily connect your phone to the camera via the Wolfbox App. With a viewing angle of 170˚, a very large area around the car is recorded.

Another handy and unique feature is the 1.0-inch TNT display screen that shows you how the camera is working. This inexpensive dashcam can also secure your car with the optional parking mode. To do this, you need to connect it to the separately available hardwire kit.

3. Nanocam M27

In our opinion, the Nanocam M27 is the best cheap dashcam on the market. The Nanocam M27 has a sleek design and films in sharp QuadHD resolution. Wifi and GPS are built in and it can be used perfectly as parking security thanks to the automatic parking mode with motion detection and time lapse mode.

A 32GB Micro SD card is included as standard, and a rear camera and hardwire kit (for parking mode) can be ordered separately. For less than €100, you get a perfect dashcam that is not much inferior to much more expensive models.

This inexpensive cylindrical AZDome M330 is one of the best-selling AZDome dashcams, and for good reason. With a small budget, you get a lot of dashcam for your money. It films in Full HD resolution and has a handy 1.0-inch TNT display screen that shows you exactly what the dashcam is doing.

The dashcam has a wide viewing angle of 170˚, allowing it to record a very large area around the car. It supports Micro SD cards up to 128GB, which you must always format in the dashcam before use by pressing the Wifi button for 8 seconds. The M330 can also be used in parking mode, but for this you need to connect it to the optionally available hardwire kit.

5. Nanocam M19

The second Nanocam in this list of cheap dashcams is the Nanocam M19. This smart and compact camera is the only 2CH dashcam in this list with a rear camera. It films in reasonable Full HD resolution at the front and VGA at the rear. The rear camera is primarily intended as an extra aid, but it is difficult to recognize people or license plates in the dark.

The inexpensive Nanocam M19 supports Micro SD cards up to 64GB, which allows for about 10 hours of recording. The rear camera has an optional extra connection cable that you can connect to the power supply of the rear lights. This activates the four LEDs on the rear camera when you reverse. The image from the rear camera is then also shown on the LCD screen, which is extra handy as a parking aid.

6. Vantrue E1 Lite

The Vantrue E1 Lite is perhaps the smallest dashcam on the market and is also very reasonably priced. For less than €100, you get an ideal dashcam with Wifi and GPS and good Full HD image quality. Together with the Nanocam M27, this is the only dashcam in the list with both Wifi and GPS.

The Vantrue E1 Lite has a small 1.5-inch LCD screen on which you can view the images and operate the menu. It can also be expanded with a CPL filter and supports Micro SD cards up to 512GB, which is unique for a dashcam in this price range. Connect it to one of the optional Vantrue hardwire kits and you can also secure your car while parked with the special parking mode.
