It may happen that the SD card or memory card in your dashcam does not work properly or is not recognised. This can have several causes:
Files are constantly being written and deleted on the SD card. After some time, small errors may appear in this, in which case it is time to format, or repair, the SD card. The SD card should also be formatted once before it is used for the first time, so that it has the right file format (FAT32).
Formatting should always be done in the dashcam itself, which can be done in the menu or, for Wifi dashcams, via the App. Make sure that all files are deleted when formatting, so save important files and/or images first. Do not format the SD card via the PC, which usually formats the SD card to the wrong file format (ExFat instead of FAT32).
Using a good SD card in a dashcam is very important. Preferably use a new SD card from a well-known A-brand (Samsung, Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend or Kingston) and from a reliable seller (no Aliexpress, for example). SD cards from other brands - e.g. Kruidvat or Action - are usually too slow and therefore not suitable for use in dashcams.
An SD card also has a limited lifespan, so it is possible that after several years of use, the SD card is no longer good and needs to be replaced. In that case, the dashcam will display ‘Memory error’, ‘SD card error’ or ‘Memory problem’ and not work properly or not turn on at all.
In rare cases, the problem lies with the dashcam. The SD card sits in a slot with a spring attached to the circuit board inside the dashcam. If one of these parts is damaged or defective, the SD card cannot be read. In this case, contact the seller.
