If the parking mode on your dashcam is not working, this could have several causes. Go through the following steps to find the problem.
Check the power supply Using parking mode on a dashcam requires a 3-wire Continuous power supply in almost all cases. If this power supply is not connected or not connected properly, the parking mode on the dashcam will not work. The most common error is that the yellow and red wires are reversed. With some power supplies, the red wire must be connected to a continuous power supply and the yellow wire to a switched power supply, but with other power supplies it is the other way around. Check the manual of the hardwire kit to make sure the power supply is connected correctly.
Check the settings Check whether parking mode is switched on in the settings of the dashcam. By default, parking mode is usually disabled, so you should first turn it on in the dashcam's menu. An icon will often appear in the image to show that parking mode has been turned on.
Check that parking mode is activated If everything is set up and connected properly, parking mode should activate as soon as (or a few seconds after) you turn off the car ignition. Depending on the type of dashcam, the screen will refresh, the parking mode icon will turn green, you will hear a beeping sound or an additional icon will become visible. This will tell you that the dashcam is in parking mode.
Check the recordings If you were unable to see that parking mode has been activated (for example, if your dashcam has no screen and you have turned off the sound), you can also check the recordings to see if there are any parking recordings.
If parking mode is activated on your dashcam but it does not record, this is often due to an incorrect setting. For example, the sensitivity of the G-sensor or motion sensor may be set too low. It could also be that the surroundings are too dark, making it difficult to detect movements.
