No connection to Wifi or the Wifi connection keeps getting disconnected?
If you cannot connect (anymore) to the Wifi on your dashcam, it usually has one of the following causes.
Make sure the Wifi on the dashcam is on before trying to connect to it. On most dashcams, the Wifi turns on for 30 seconds or 1 minute after start-up. If you don't connect to the dashcam during that time, the Wifi will automatically turn off again. You can then turn the Wifi on again by pressing the Wifi button. Most dashcams have a Wifi indicator light that shows whether the Wifi is activated.
Attention: If the dashcam is switched off or in parking mode, it is - with the exception of Cloud dashcams - not possible to switch on the Wifi and connect to it.
Go to your phone's Wifi settings to see if the dashcam is among the available Wifi networks. The network often has the name of the make or model of your dashcam with a code behind it. If the network is there, you can press it and enter the password (see manual). If not, there is probably a problem with the dashcam. In that case, first go through the steps in this article or contact the seller.
Sometimes - after you have connected to the Wi-Fi network - you get the message that no internet connection is possible via the network. You can ignore this message or indicate that you want to stay connected to the network. This is because it is true that no internet connection is possible when you are connected to the dashcam's Wifi. You are ‘logged on’ to the dashcam's closed network and unlike the Wifi at your home (where the modem is connected to the internet), the dashcam is not connected to the internet.
Many newer iPhones have an option (Wifi Assist) that automatically uses mobile data when no or poor connection to the internet via Wifi is possible. For Android, this feature is also available via a third-party App. This feature ensures that the connection to the dashcam is disrupted or broken. Temporarily turn off your mobile data or aeroplane mode to rule out that the problem is related to such a feature.
Once you are sure you are connected to the dashcam's Wi-Fi network, you can go to the dashcam's App. If you are doing this for the first time you will usually need to add the dashcam first. If the connection is good, you can now watch the dashcam live and be able to change settings. If you still have problems, it could be that the App is not compatible with your dashcam's firmware version. In that case, update your dashcam's firmware and reinstall the App on your phone.
