1CH dashcams are the ‘standard’ dashcams that are mounted on the windscreen and record what happens in front of the car, either while driving or not.

2CH dashcams are in most cases 1CH dashcams that come with (small and often waterproof) extra rear camera for on the bumper or rear window. This extra rear camera is attached to the front dashcam with a long cable. Both dashcams record simultaneously and the images from both dashcams are stored on the SD card located in the front dashcam. No separate power supply is needed for the second camera, which is transmitted via the cable it is connected to the front dashcam.
In some cases, the second camera is incorporated into the front dashcam so that it films the interior of the car, as with the AZDome M550 Pro 3CH. These dashcams are widely used by taxi drivers, for example, to secure the driver or by driving schools to record students' (viewing) behaviour.

Nowadays, there are also 3CH or even 4CH dashcams. These thus consist of 3 and 4 cameras respectively. In the Vantrue N5, for example, the third and fourth cameras are incorporated into the front and rear cameras so they film the interior and a large area around the car from both sides.
