The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH is the long-awaited successor to the popular and reliable A229 series. In doing so, Viofo has updated both its design and specifications. The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH films at 4K resolution on the front and at QuadHD (2K) on the rear. Combined with a built-in Sony Starvis 2 image sensor, the A229 Pro thus delivers razor-sharp images, both at the front and back and in all conditions.
Dual 4K + Quad HD recording
Because the Viofo A229 Pro 2CH is equipped with two cameras, it can record in front and behind the car. The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH films with 4K resolution at the front and with QuadHD (2K) at the rear. The rear camera is connected to the front camera with a long supplied 6-metre cable. Footage from the rear camera is stored separately on the SD card. The 2.4-inch HD LCD screen displays the rear camera on one-fourth of the screen via PiP (Picture in Picture).
Dual-Band Wifi
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH is equipped with dual-band Wifi (5 Ghz) making file transfer very fast and the network very reliable. Via the Viofo App, images can be directly viewed and downloaded via the Wifi on any iOS and Android phone and tablet.
CPL filter included
The included CPL filter ensures optimal protection and image quality under sunny conditions. The CPL filter works for the dashcam like Polaroid sunglasses for the eyes. Harmful UV rays are filtered out and annoying reflections are eliminated. This improves the image quality and durability of the camera. For the rear camera, the CPL-300 filter is optionally available (see accessories).
2x SONY Starvis sensor
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH films with 4K + QuadHD (2K) image quality. The super-fast Novatek 96660 chip combined with the two SONY sensors ensures that all details are clearly visible, even in the dark.
Automatic parking mode
The Viofo A229 Plus Duo 4K Wifi is equipped with an automatic parking mode with motion detection or Time Lapse. With motion detection, the camera is on standby and starts recording for 30 seconds when a movement is detected. In Time Lapse, the camera continuously records a 1fps video that can later be played back (sped up) as 30fps video. This way, evidence is always available if the car has been damaged while parked.
Note: The automatic parking mode only works if the dashcam is used with the Viofo HK4 hardwire kit (see accessories). With that connected, the camera will automatically switch to parking mode when the car ignition is turned off and switch to normal recording when the car is started.
Bluetooth SOS button (optional)
With the handy optional Viofo A229 Plus Duo 4K Wifi Bluetooth SOS button, a manual SOS recording can be started on the Viofo A229 Pro 2CH at the touch of a button. The SOS button can be easily connected to the Viofo A229 Pro 2CH by turning on the dashcam and pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. The blue indicator LED on the button will light blue if the connection has been successfully established. The SOS button can be mounted anywhere within the vehicle using the sticker provided.
GPS module
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH comes standard with a GPS module. The GPS allows the current speed to be displayed in the image. This can be decisive as evidence in an incident. Moreover, the GPS keeps track of the locations where the dashcam was filmed. Via the software on the PC, the route travelled can therefore be viewed.
2.4-inch HD LCD screen
This Viofo A229 Pro 2CH dashcam has a 2.4-inch HD LCD screen. The screen displays live images and allows easy menu control. If desired, the built-in screensaver automatically turns off the LCD screen after a set number of minutes so it does not interfere with the driver.
140˚ + 160˚ wideview lens
With its 140˚ + 160˚ wideview ‘fish eye’ lens, the Viofo A229 Pro 2CH has a long range and captures almost everything in the environment.
1.8 aperture 7G lens
The 1.8 aperture at the front and 1.9 aperture at the rear, combined with a 7G lens, captures a lot of light, making the quality of images very good both during the day and in the dark.
HDR
Thanks to HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, the camera is able to generate sharp images at both very high and very low light intensities. As a result, the camera captures razor-sharp images in bright daytime and low light at night.
WDR
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH is equipped with WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) hardware. This allows the dashcam to automatically adjust the light intensity depending on the environment. The WDR thus guarantees the best image quality under varying conditions.
Auto start
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH dashcam starts filming automatically when the car is started. So you no longer need to look at it when it's hanging in the car. The prerequisite for this is that it is connected to the power supply in the car.
G-sensor
With its built-in G-sensor, the Viofo A229 Pro 2CH dashcam notices when you've been in an accident. Upon impact, images are automatically saved securely so they are not lost. They can no longer be overwritten or deleted via the dashcam.
AV output
The AV output allows the dashcam image to be displayed on an external monitor, such as a built-in car navigation system. An AV cable is required to transfer the images.
Super capacitor battery
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH is equipped with a super capacitor battery. This battery ensures that the camera can properly shut itself down after a power failure. Super capacitor batteries are specially developed for use in dashcams because they are more durable than regular Polymer Li-ion batteries and are also more resistant to high and low temperatures.
Built-in microphone
The built-in microphone in this dashcam also records sound in and around the car. The microphone can be switched off if required
512gb support
The Viofo A229 Pro 2CH supports MicroSD cards up to 512gb.
